Overview
Sikander Bakht (born 25 August 1957) is a Pakistani former international cricketer who represented Pakistan in 26 Test matches and 27 One Day Internationals between 1976 and 1989. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, he made his way into the national side as a replacement for Ehteshamuddin, and marked his arrival by taking 11 wickets in that Test and 24 wickets across the series.
Bakht featured in several memorable contests during his career. In a Test at Karachi, one of his deliveries broke the left arm of England captain Mike Brearley. His most celebrated bowling performance came against India at Delhi in 1979/80, where, on a placid pitch, he returned figures of 8 for 69, dismantling the Indian batting with sustained penetration.
After his playing days, Bakht remained associated with the game in various capacities. He was part of the support staff of the Pakistan team during the 2003 Cricket World Cup, serving as an assistant coach and team analyst. Since 2011, he has been working with Geo News as a sports analyst, where his commentary is noted for its outspoken style. He has also been associated with PTV, Indus TV, ESPN, Star Sports, Express News and Samaa Television in similar analytical roles.
