Overview

Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU), formerly known as Siddhu Kanhu University, is a public state university located in the Santhal Parganas region of Jharkhand, in eastern India. The university is named after Sido and Kanhu Murmu, leaders associated with the Santhal community.

The university has its headquarters at Dumka, which serves as the second capital of Jharkhand. It functions as one of the principal centres of higher education in the Santhal Parganas region.

SKMU offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses across a range of streams. Its academic network extends through the region by way of constituent and affiliated colleges. The university has 27 constituent colleges and 15 affiliated colleges spread across six districts of Jharkhand, providing access to higher education for students from various parts of the state.
