Shoaib Bashir (born 13 October 2003) is an English cricketer who plays domestic cricket for Derbyshire and represents the England national cricket team. He previously played for Somerset County Cricket Club. A right-handed batter and right-arm off-break bowler, Bashir made his Test debut for England against India on 2 February 2024.

Background

Bashir is an English off-spin bowler who emerged through the county circuit in England. He came up through Somerset County Cricket Club, where he made his senior professional debuts in 2023 across both the longer and shorter formats of the domestic game.

Career

Somerset

Bashir began his senior career with Somerset in 2023. He made his Twenty20 debut in the T20 Blast against Hampshire on 7 June 2023. Days later, on 11 June 2023, he played his first first-class match for Somerset against Essex.

England

Bashir was selected by England for international duty in the Test format. He made his Test debut against India on 2 February 2024, becoming part of England's spin bowling attack on the subcontinent.

Derbyshire

Bashir later moved from Somerset to Derbyshire County Cricket Club, where he continues to play county cricket.
