Shaun Edward Marsh (born 9 July 1983) is an Australian cricketer who has represented Australia in all three formats of international cricket. A left-handed top-order batsman, he played his domestic cricket for the Western Australia cricket team in the Australian domestic circuit. He is widely known by the nickname SOS, an abbreviation of "Son of Swampy", a reference to his father, the former Australian opener Geoff Marsh.

Background

Marsh comes from a prominent Australian cricketing family. His father, Geoff Marsh, played international cricket for Australia, and the nickname "Son of Swampy" derives from Geoff's own well-known moniker within Australian cricket circles.

Career

Marsh built his domestic career with Western Australia, the team with which he was long associated in Australian first-class and List A cricket. Over the course of his career he was selected to represent Australia in Test matches, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals, establishing himself as a left-handed batsman primarily used in the top order.

Retirement from first-class cricket

On 10 March 2023, Marsh announced his retirement from first-class cricket. At the time of the announcement he was set to continue playing in the Big Bash League (BBL) with the Melbourne Renegades.
