Saurabh Shukla is an Indian actor, screenwriter, and film director who works primarily in Hindi cinema, with occasional appearances in Tamil and Telugu films. Known for his versatility in both comic and dramatic roles, he has built a career spanning more than two decades, earning critical acclaim for his supporting performances in mainstream and parallel cinema alike.

Career

Shukla came to wider attention with his role in Ram Gopal Varma's crime drama Satya (1998), a film that became a landmark of the Indian gangster genre. He went on to appear in a range of major Hindi productions, including Nayak: The Real Hero (2001), Mani Ratnam's Yuva (2004), and the social comedy Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006).

His later work includes Anurag Basu's Barfi! (2012) and Subhash Kapoor's courtroom comedy Jolly LLB (2013), in which his portrayal of Justice Tripathi won him the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. He continued in prominent supporting roles in Kick (2014), Rajkumar Hirani's PK (2014), Jolly LLB 2 (2017), and Raid (2018).

Beyond mainstream features, Shukla has also worked on a short documentary with Ruth Agnihotri and Rachael Agnihotri in Goa.

Shukla is regarded as one of Hindi cinema's most dependable character actors, with a body of work that includes both menacing antagonists, as in Satya, and warm comic figures, as in the Jolly LLB films.
