Overview
Satsang (Sanskrit: सत्सङ्ग, romanised: Satsaṅga) literally means "the company of truth". In Hindu traditions, the term refers to an audience or gathering with a satguru, undertaken for the purpose of spiritual or yogic instruction.
The practice is also understood more broadly as a gathering of good people who come together for the performance of devotional activities. In this sense, satsang denotes both the act of keeping virtuous company and the assembly itself in which such company is kept.
As a form of spiritual instruction, satsang places the seeker in proximity to a teacher regarded as established in truth, and frames learning as participation in a community oriented towards devotion and inner enquiry.
