Overview
Satavahana University is a public university located in Karimnagar, in the Indian state of Telangana. Established as a nonprofit institution of higher learning, it serves as one of the regional universities catering to students in the northern parts of Telangana.
The university is officially recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India, the statutory body responsible for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in the country.
Satavahana University takes its name from the Satavahana dynasty, an ancient Indian royal house that historically held sway over parts of the Deccan region. The naming reflects the cultural and historical heritage associated with the area in which the university is situated.
