Overview
Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) is a medical institute located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It is situated on Raebareli Road, around 14 kilometres south of Hazratganj. The institute was established under a State Legislature Act and functions as an autonomous postgraduate medical institution.
The institute was established in 1983 and is named after Sanjay Gandhi. It is dedicated to postgraduate medical education, patient care and research in various specialities and super-specialities of medicine.
SGPGIMS was ranked 5th in the medical category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2025.
