Overview
Sanjay Chauhan is an Indian politician associated with the communist movement in Himachal Pradesh. He is known for having served as the Mayor of the Shimla Municipal Corporation, the civic body that administers the state capital of Himachal Pradesh.
Chauhan held the office of Mayor from May 2012 to June 2017, completing a full term at the head of the corporation. His election to the post was notable as it came on a platform supported by Left parties in a city election that is otherwise typically contested by the larger national parties.
Beyond his role in civic administration, Chauhan has been active in party organisation. He serves as the secretary of the Himachal Pradesh state unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), in which capacity he is involved in coordinating the party's activities within the state.
