Sangole (also spelt Sangola) is a town and the headquarters of Sangole taluka in the Solapur district of Maharashtra, India. Located in the Pune division, the town lies in the semi-arid eastern part of Maharashtra and is known regionally for its pomegranate cultivation and as a market centre for the surrounding rural hinterland.

Geography
Sangole is situated in the western part of Solapur district, in the rain-shadow region east of the Western Ghats. The terrain is largely flat to gently undulating and falls within the drought-prone belt of Maharashtra. The Man river basin influences parts of the taluka, and irrigation has historically been a key concern for cultivators in the area.
Administration
The town serves as the administrative seat of Sangole taluka, one of the tahsils that make up Solapur district. Civic affairs in the town are managed by a municipal council, while the surrounding villages fall under the panchayat system. Sangole is part of the Sangola Vidhan Sabha constituency in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, which falls within the wider Madha Lok Sabha constituency.
Economy
Agriculture is the principal economic activity in and around Sangole. The taluka is widely recognised in Maharashtra for its pomegranate orchards, with the fruit being cultivated for both domestic markets and export. Other significant crops include sugarcane, jowar (sorghum), bajra (pearl millet), and pulses, depending on water availability. The town functions as a trading hub for agricultural produce, and has agro-processing units, cooperative societies, and weekly markets that serve nearby villages.
Transport
Sangole is connected by road to Solapur, Pandharpur, Pune, and other towns in western Maharashtra through the State Highway network maintained by the Public Works Department. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses provide regular services from the local bus stand. The town is also served by Sangola railway station on the Indian Railways network, linking it to other parts of the state.
Culture and society
Marathi is the predominant language, and the cultural life of Sangole reflects that of rural western Maharashtra, with traditional festivals such as Gudi Padwa, Ganesh Chaturthi, and the Pandharpur Wari pilgrimage influencing local observance. Pandharpur, an important Vaishnavite pilgrimage centre dedicated to Vithoba, lies within the same district and draws devotees from Sangole during the annual Ashadhi Ekadashi yatra.
Education
Sangole has a network of primary and secondary schools run by the Zilla Parishad and private trusts, along with junior colleges and degree colleges affiliated to Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University. Agricultural extension services and cooperative institutions also play a role in technical education and training in the taluka.
