Geography
Sanawad is situated in the Nimar plains of southwestern Madhya Pradesh, in the basin of the Narmada river. The terrain is generally level and consists of fertile black-cotton soils typical of the Nimar belt. The town is connected to the nearby pilgrimage town of Omkareshwar and to Mortakka, where road and rail bridges cross the Narmada.
