Overview
Sambalpur University is a public research university situated in the town of Burla, in the Sambalpur district of Odisha, India. The university campus is popularly known as Jyoti Vihar and lies about 15 km from Sambalpur.
The university offers programmes at the undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral (Ph.D.) levels across a range of disciplines. As a public institution, it functions as a centre for higher education and research in western Odisha.
In keeping with the standard practice for state universities in Odisha, the Governor of Odisha serves as the Chancellor of Sambalpur University.
