Overview

Jagadish "Jaggi" Vasudev (born 3 September 1957), known as Sadhguru, is an Indian guru and the founder of the Isha Foundation, headquartered in Coimbatore. He has been teaching yoga since 1982, and established the foundation in 1992 to operate an ashram and yoga centre that conducts educational and spiritual activities.

Sadhguru is the author of Inner Engineering: A Yogi's Guide to Joy and Karma: A Yogi's Guide to Crafting Your Destiny, both of which featured on the New York Times bestseller list. He is also a frequent speaker at international forums on themes related to yoga, spirituality and contemporary social issues.

He advocates for environmental protection and action on climate change, and has led initiatives such as Project GreenHands (PGH), Rally for Rivers, Cauvery Calling and the Journey to Save Soil, which focus on tree planting, river revitalisation and soil conservation. In 2017, he was conferred the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, for his contributions to spirituality and humanitarian services. Sadhguru has also been criticised for promoting a number of pseudoscientific claims.
