Background

Raymond traces its origin to a small woollen mill set up in Thane, near Mumbai, in the early twentieth century. The business was acquired by the Singhania family, and grew under the leadership of Kailashpat Singhania and later his son Vijaypat Singhania, who expanded Raymond from a textile mill into a multi-brand apparel and lifestyle group. Vijaypat Singhania's son Gautam Singhania subsequently took over as chairman and managing director, steering the group's modern diversification.

The company is widely associated in India with the long-running advertising tagline "The Complete Man", which positioned Raymond as a premium menswear brand from the 1990s onward.

Raymond is among the largest integrated manufacturers of worsted suiting fabric in the world, producing wool and wool-blend fabrics at its facilities in Maharashtra and elsewhere in India. Its textile division supplies fabric domestically and exports to numerous countries.
