Rani Channamma University (RCU) is a state public university located in Belagavi (Belgaum), in the northern part of Karnataka, India. The university was established by the Government of Karnataka to serve higher education needs in the Belagavi region and is named after Kittur Chennamma, the queen of Kittur who led an armed resistance against the British East India Company in 1824.

Background
The university was carved out of the jurisdiction of Karnatak University, Dharwad, in order to provide a dedicated affiliating university for colleges in the Belagavi division. Its main campus is situated at Bhutaramanahatti on the outskirts of Belagavi city, along the Belagavi–Bagalkot road.
Academics
RCU functions as both a teaching and an affiliating university. It offers postgraduate programmes through its departments on the main campus and oversees a large number of affiliated undergraduate and postgraduate colleges spread across its territorial jurisdiction.
