Randeep Hooda (born 20 August 1976) is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Hindi cinema. He is known for his versatility and for the physical transformations he undertakes for his roles. Over the course of his career, Hooda has moved between supporting parts in ensemble films and leading roles in dramas, action films and biographical features, and has also appeared in international productions.

Career

Early work

Hooda made his Hindi film debut in Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding (2001). The early phase of his career was marked by limited prominence before he found wider visibility through gangster and ensemble dramas later in the decade.

Breakthrough and supporting roles

Hooda's career reached a turning point with the gangster film Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010). He continued to gain attention with supporting roles in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), Jannat 2 (2012), Jism 2 (2012), Cocktail (2012) and Heroine (2012).

Lead roles

He starred in leading roles in Murder 3 (2013), John Day (2013) and Rang Rasiya (2014). For Rang Rasiya, he was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

Critical recognition

Hooda received widespread critical acclaim for his performances in Highway (2014), Main Aur Charles (2015) and Sarbjit (2016), the last of which was based on the life of Sarabjit Singh. Other notable appearances during this period include Do Lafzon Ki Kahani (2016).

Commercial successes

Among his biggest commercial hits are Kick (2014) and Sultan (2016). He also featured in the action film Baaghi 2 (2018) and in Jaat (2025).

International and television work

Hooda appeared in the American film Extraction (2020) opposite Chris Hemsworth, marking his entry into a Hollywood production. He later headlined the streaming television series CAT (2022).
