Overview
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is a public technical institute located in Jais, in the Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The institute was earlier associated with Raebareli district. It focuses on education and training in fields related to science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and the petroleum industry.
RGIPT was formally opened in July 2008. It has been granted the status of an Institute of National Importance, and follows a governance structure similar to that of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Admission to the institute's undergraduate programmes is made from the rank list of candidates who have qualified in the Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE Advanced).
