Overview

Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil is an Indian politician and a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly representing the Shirdi constituency in Ahmednagar district. He has been an MLA from Shirdi continuously since 1995, and was re-elected in 2014 and again in 2019. He is the son of Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, a veteran politician from Maharashtra who served as Union Minister of Finance.

Vikhe Patil currently serves as the Minister for Revenue in the Government of Maharashtra. He was sworn in during the cabinet expansion of the Eknath Shinde ministry on 9 August 2022. Previously, he was a member of the Indian National Congress and served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha from 2014 to 2019, during the tenure of the Devendra Fadnavis–led government. In 2019, he and his son Sujay, along with other party colleagues, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The same year, Sujay Vikhe Patil was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Ahmednagar constituency on a BJP ticket.

Across his legislative career, Vikhe Patil has held a number of portfolios under successive state governments. He served as Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Earthquake Rehabilitation in the Manohar Joshi and Narayan Rane ministries between 1995 and 1999. In the First Ashok Chavan ministry (2008–2009) he held the School Education portfolio, followed by Transport, Ports, and Law & Judiciary in the Second Ashok Chavan ministry (2009–2010). In the Prithviraj Chavan ministry (2010–2014), he was Minister for Agriculture, Food & Drug Administration, Marathi Language, and Other Backward Classes.

Following his move to the BJP, he briefly served as Minister of Housing in the First Fadnavis ministry in 2019. He continued as Minister of Revenue in the Eknath Shinde ministry from 2022 to 2024. Over the course of his career, he has worked under
