Overview
Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is a Deemed to be University located in Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, India. The institution functions under the Pravara Medical Trust and offers education and training in the field of medical and health sciences.
The parent body, Pravara Medical Trust, was founded by Vithalrao Vikhe Patil in 1972. The university itself was established under the leadership of Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, who steered its growth into a recognised institution of higher learning in the region.
In 2003, the University Grants Commission granted the institute the status of a Deemed University. Following subsequent changes in nomenclature applicable to such institutions, it is now referred to as a Deemed to be University.
