Overview
Patliputra University (PPU) is a collegiate public state university located in Patna, the capital of Bihar, India. It was established in 2018 by the Government of Bihar to oversee higher education across a defined region of the state.
The university exercises jurisdiction over colleges situated in the Patna and Nalanda districts, with the exception of institutions affiliated with Patna University. As a collegiate university, academic and administrative responsibilities are shared between its university departments and the network of affiliated colleges, which together cater to a large student population in central Bihar.
The headquarters of Patliputra University is presently located at Kankarbagh in Patna. A permanent campus for the university is under development near Bakhtiyarpur, which is intended to serve as the principal seat of its academic and administrative activities in the future.
