Overview

Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), formerly known as Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), is a university located in Gujarat, India. It was established on 4 April 2007 by the Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI) of the GSPC Group, Government of Gujarat. The campus is situated at the Knowledge Corridor in Raysan municipality, adjacent to GIFT City near Gandhinagar.

The university comprises four schools located on the same campus: the School of Energy Technology (SoET), formerly the School of Petroleum Technology; the School of Technology (SoT); the School of Management (SoM), formerly the School of Petroleum Management; and the School of Liberal Studies (SLS).

PDEU has been granted Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) recognition by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The university has been ranked as the top university in Gujarat by the Gujarat State Ranking Framework and has received "Centre of Excellence Status" (in principle) from the Government of Gujarat. The President of the University Board of Governors is Mukesh Ambani, and the Chairman of the Standing Committee is Hasmukh Adhia.

The campus includes a 1 megawatt solar power plant. The Government of Gujarat has set up an International Automobile Centre of Excellence near the university, established as a joint venture with Maruti Suzuki with an investment of approximately ₹150 crore.
