Nora Fatehi (born Naura Fathi; 6 February 1992) is a Canadian singer, dancer and actress based in India. She works primarily in Hindi cinema, and has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films. Fatehi is regarded as one of the prominent dancers in contemporary Indian cinema, having gained wider recognition for her dance performances in Indian films before expanding into supporting acting roles and international music collaborations.

Background

Fatehi was born on 6 February 1992 under the name Naura Fathi. She is a Canadian national who later relocated to India to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, working across multiple Indian film industries as well as in music.

Career

Film debut and early appearances

Fatehi made her acting debut with the Hindi film Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans. She subsequently became known in Telugu cinema through special appearance songs in films such as Temper, Baahubali: The Beginning and Kick 2. In Malayalam cinema, she appeared in two films, Double Barrel and Kayamkulam Kochunni.

Television

In 2015, Fatehi participated as a contestant on the reality television show Bigg Boss. The following year, in 2016, she took part in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. She has since served as a judge on the television shows Dance Deewane Juniors and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10.

Breakthrough with "Dilbar"

Fatehi appeared in the Hindi film Satyameva Jayate, in which she was featured in a recreated version of the song "Dilbar". The song crossed 20 million views on YouTube within the first 24 hours of its release, making it the first Hindi song to achieve such numbers in India. She subsequently collaborated with the Moroccan hip-hop group Fnaïre to release an Arabic version of "Dilbar".

International music

In 2019, Fatehi collaborated with Tanzanian musician and songwriter Rayvanny to release "Pepeta", her first international English-language single. In October 2022, she was chosen to feature in "Light The Sky", a song for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, collaborating with the producer RedOne and artists Manal, Balqees and Rahma Riad.

Recent Hindi films

Fatehi has played supporting parts in the Hindi films Street Dancer 3D (2020) and Bhuj: The Pride of India (2021).

Significance

Fatehi is recognised as one of the prominent dancers working in contemporary Indian cinema. The viral success of "Dilbar" marked a notable moment for Hindi film music on digital platforms, while her later collaborations with North African and East African artists, and her involvement in the FIFA World Cup 2022 song, have positioned her as a crossover performer between Indian cinema and international music.
