Overview

Nityanand Rai (born 1 January 1966) is an Indian politician serving as the Minister of State for Home Affairs in the Government of India. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Rai was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Ujiarpur constituency in Bihar in the 2014 General Election and was re-elected in the 2019 General Election. Prior to his election to Parliament, he served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Hajipur constituency in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

He won the Hajipur assembly seat consecutively in the elections of 2000, February 2005, October 2005, and 2010, before contesting and winning the parliamentary seat from Ujiarpur. As Minister of State for Home Affairs, he assists the Union Home Minister in the functioning of the Ministry.
