Tiwari co-directed his first feature film Chillar Party (2011) along with Vikas Bahl. Tiwari directed Dangal, a biographical sports drama based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, who became national and international wrestling champions. The film starred Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. Chhichhore (2019)
