Overview

Neeraj Ghaywan (born 1980) is an Indian film director and writer who works in Hindi cinema. Over the course of his career, he has received several accolades, including a National Film Award and two Filmfare Awards.

Before turning director, Ghaywan worked as an assistant to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and Ugly (2013). He made his directorial debut in 2015 with Masaan, which received wide acclaim and won two prizes at the Cannes Film Festival, including the FIPRESCI Prize.

In 2017, Ghaywan directed the short film Juice, which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Short Film – Fiction. He subsequently co-directed the second season of the Netflix series Sacred Games with Anurag Kashyap in 2019. In 2021, he directed Geeli Pucchi, one of the segments of the Netflix anthology film Ajeeb Daastaans.
