Overview
Nayab Singh Saini (born 25 January 1970) is an Indian politician serving as the Chief Minister of Haryana. A leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana, he was appointed Chief Minister in March 2024, succeeding Manohar Lal Khattar, and continued in office for the remainder of the fourteenth assembly's term.
Saini was reappointed as Chief Minister for a second term after leading the BJP to victory in the 2024 Haryana Legislative Assembly election, with the party forming the government for a third consecutive term. He himself contested from the Ladwa Assembly constituency in Kurukshetra district, defeating the incumbent Mewa Singh of the Indian National Congress.
Before assuming the office of Chief Minister, Saini served as the president of the Haryana state unit of the BJP from 2023 to 2024. He was earlier a Member of Parliament from the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency from 2019 to 2024. Prior to that, he represented the Naraingarh Assembly constituency in Ambala district as a Member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019, and served as a Minister of State in the Government of Haryana from 2015 to 2019.
Coming from an Other Backward Class (OBC) background, Saini joined the BJP through its unit in Ambala and rose steadily through the party's organisational ranks, working closely with Manohar Lal Khattar.
