Overview
National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA or NLUJAA) is a National Law University located in Guwahati, Assam, India. It is a public university dedicated to the field of legal education, established through an Act passed by the State Legislature of Assam (Assam Act XXV of 2009).
The university was established in 2009, and admissions for its first batch of students were made in 2011. This first cohort completed their studies in 2016. In addition to imparting legal education, the institution also functions as a judicial academy.
Gurjeet Singh served as the first Vice-Chancellor of the university. He was succeeded in due course by V. K. Ahuja. In 2024, K. V. S. Sarma was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the university, succeeding V. K. Ahuja.
