Overview

National Law University, Tripura (NLUT) is a statutory law university located in Agartala, Tripura, India. It was established under the National Law University, Tripura Act, 2022, enacted by the Government of Tripura, and is counted among the National Law Universities (NLUs) in the country.

The university offers legal education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Its academic programmes include the integrated B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) at the undergraduate level, along with the LL.M. and doctoral (PhD) programmes for advanced study and research in law.

As per its founding statute, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura serves as the Chancellor of the university. Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh was appointed as the founding Vice-Chancellor of NLUT.

NLUT is part of the broader network of National Law Universities established by various state governments in India to promote specialised legal education and research.
