Overview
The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) is an Indian government agency headquartered in New Delhi. It functions under the Ministry of Women and Child Development and is tasked with promoting voluntary action, research, training and documentation in the broader domain of women empowerment and child development in India.
The institute was established in 1966. Over the years, it has expanded its presence through four Regional Centres located at Guwahati, Bangalore, Lucknow and Indore, set up in 1978, 1980, 1982 and 2001 respectively. These centres support the institute's work across different regions of the country.
NIPCCD's mandate covers a wide range of activities related to the welfare and development of women and children. Its functions include conducting and supporting research, organising training programmes for functionaries engaged in such work, and serving as a documentation resource in the field. The institute also engages in promoting voluntary action in social development.
In April 1985, NIPCCD was conferred the Maurice Pate Memorial Award by UNICEF in recognition of its work in developing services for children and its contributions to training, research and advocacy.
