Career
Domestic cricket
Neser made his first-class debut for Queensland and has been a long-standing member of the state's Sheffield Shield squad. Over successive seasons he established himself as a frontline new-ball bowler capable of swinging the Kookaburra ball, and his record in Shield cricket has placed him among the more productive seam bowlers on the domestic circuit.
In the Big Bash League, Neser initially played for the Adelaide Strikers, with whom he was part of a championship-winning campaign, before later returning to represent his home franchise, the Brisbane Heat.
International cricket
Neser was first selected for Australia in the limited-overs format, making his One Day International debut against England. He was subsequently included in Australia's Test squads as a reserve seamer and made his Test debut against England during the 2021–22 Ashes series at Adelaide Oval, taking a wicket with one of his early deliveries in Test cricket. He has continued to feature in extended Australian squads, particularly when conditions are expected to suit seam and swing bowling.
Playing style and significance
Neser is regarded as a classical seam-and-swing bowler who relies on accuracy, subtle movement off the pitch and disciplined lengths rather than express pace. His batting in the lower order has produced several first-class centuries, adding to his value as an all-rounder. Within Australian domestic cricket he is often cited as an example of a player whose consistency over many seasons earned him a delayed but deserved international call-up.
