Overview
Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University (MMHAPU) is a state university located in Patna, Bihar, India. It was established under the provisions of the Bihar State Universities Act of 1976, which took effect on 10 April 1998. The university is named after the veteran freedom fighter Maulana Mazharul Haque.
Although the Government of Bihar appointed three Vice-Chancellors between 1998 and 2008, the university did not begin admitting students until 2007, and its first academic session commenced in July 2008. MMHAPU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, having been admitted in December 2009.
The university offers postgraduate courses under the semester system in subjects including English, Urdu, Persian, journalism, mass communication, and education. It has more than 100 Knowledge Resource Centres and 21 affiliated colleges, among which are several B.Ed. colleges. Two convocations have been held by the university, in 2012 and 2015.
