Martin James Guptill (born 30 September 1986) is a former New Zealand international cricketer who represented his country as an opening batsman across all three formats of the game. He is regarded as one of New Zealand's most prolific limited-overs batters and held a number of significant records in One Day International (ODI) cricket.

Overview

Guptill played for New Zealand in all formats and was a long-serving opener in the white-ball sides. He was a member of the New Zealand squads that finished as runners-up in two consecutive ICC Cricket World Cup finals, in 2015 and 2019.

Career highlights

Guptill became the first cricketer from New Zealand, and the fifth overall, to score a double century in a One Day International. His unbeaten innings of 237 stands as the highest individual score in a Cricket World Cup match and is also the second highest individual score in the history of ODI cricket.

In March 2021, Guptill became one of a small group of cricketers to feature in 100 Twenty20 International matches, underlining his longevity in the shortest format.
