Manoj Tiwari

Overview

Manoj Kumar Tiwari (born 1 February 1971) is an Indian politician, singer and actor. He has been serving as a Member of Parliament from the North East Delhi constituency since 2014.

Tiwari first contested the 2009 general election as a Samajwadi Party candidate from the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat, but lost to Yogi Adityanath. He subsequently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 and contested the general elections that year from North East Delhi, winning the seat.

In 2016, Tiwari was appointed president of the Delhi unit of the BJP. He led the party's organisation in Delhi during the 2017 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, in which the BJP recorded a notable victory.

Apart from his political career, Tiwari is widely known as a singer and actor, particularly associated with Bhojpuri music and cinema.
