Overview
Manohar Lal Khattar (born 5 May 1954) is an Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Since 2024, he has been serving as the 19th Minister of Power and the 4th Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs in the Government of India.
Khattar served as the 10th Chief Minister of Haryana from 26 October 2014 until his resignation on 12 March 2024. During this tenure, he also functioned as the Leader of the House in the Haryana Legislative Assembly. He represented the Karnal constituency in the state assembly from 2014 to 2024.
In the 2024 Indian general election, Khattar was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India, from the Karnal constituency in Haryana. Following his election, he was inducted into the Union Council of Ministers and assigned the portfolios of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs.
Before assuming public office, Khattar was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a pracharak. Within the BJP's Haryana unit, he served as the Organizational General Secretary from 2000 to 2014, a role through which he was involved in the party's organisational work in the state prior to his elevation to the Chief Minister's post.
