Overview
Mahendra Singh (born 31 December 1956) is an Indian politician who served as a member of the 14th and 15th Legislative Assemblies of Uttar Pradesh, elected in 2002 and 2007 respectively. He represented the Koil constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
During his tenure, Singh served as a Minister of State in the Mayawati Ministry. He was associated with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for much of his political career, working within the party's organisational and legislative framework in Uttar Pradesh.
In January 2018, Singh left the BSP, citing differences with the party leadership. Following his departure, the party issued a statement stating that he had been expelled for "anti-party activities". In December 2018, around eleven months later, he joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal, then led by Ajit Singh. He left the RLD approximately six months thereafter, citing internal issues.
On 12 September 2021, in New Delhi, Mahendra Singh joined the Azad Samaj Party in the presence of Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan, becoming a core member of the party.
