The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (commonly abbreviated MSU or MSU Baroda) is a state public university located in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. Named after Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of the erstwhile princely state of Baroda, the university is one of the oldest centres of higher education in western India and has historically been a leading institution for the arts, sciences, fine arts and technology in Gujarat.

Background
The university traces its origins to the Baroda College, an institution of higher learning established in the nineteenth century under the patronage of the Gaekwad rulers of Baroda.
