Overview
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), formerly known as Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, is a state technical university located in Bathinda, Punjab, India. It was established in 2015 and functions from the upgraded Giani Zail Singh Punjab Technical University campus, situated on the Bathinda–Dabwali road.
The university exercises jurisdiction over eleven districts of Punjab, namely Bathinda, Ferozepur, Moga, Faridkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Fazilka. It offers technical education and is recognised as fit for central assistance under Section 12(B) of the relevant statute governing universities in India.
MRSPTU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Thompson Rivers University, Canada. Under this arrangement, a student enrolled in a four-year bachelor's degree programme at MRSPTU may, after completing two years of study at the university, undertake the remaining two years at Thompson Rivers University, with provision for a three-year work permit in Canada thereafter.
