Operations
The cooperative's flagship manufacturing complex is located at Hazira in Gujarat, on the Gulf of Khambhat, where it operates ammonia and urea production units along with associated infrastructure. The Hazira plant is gas-based and is among the larger urea-producing facilities in India.
In addition to urea and ammonia, KRIBHCO has diversified into:
- Bio-fertilisers and bio-pesticides aimed at sustainable agriculture.
- Certified seed production and distribution.
- Marketing of imported fertilisers such as DAP and MOP through its dealer network.
- Joint ventures and subsidiaries in fertiliser trading and rural retail.
Subsidiaries and joint ventures
KRIBHCO has invested in associated entities engaged in fertiliser distribution, agri-retail and overseas fertiliser sourcing, working in collaboration with other cooperative bodies and public sector partners.
Significance
As a cooperative-sector enterprise, KRIBHCO occupies an important position in India's fertiliser supply chain alongside organisations such as IFFCO and public sector units like National Fertilizers Limited. Its operations contribute to the supply of nitrogenous fertilisers used widely in Indian agriculture and to the broader objectives of food security and rural development through cooperatives.
