Kiren Rijiju (born 19 November 1971) is an Indian politician who serves as the 28th Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and the 7th Minister of Minority Affairs in the Government of India, having assumed these portfolios in 2024. He is a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing the Arunachal West constituency.
Rijiju was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Arunachal West, serving from 2004 to 2009. He returned to the Lok Sabha in 2014 and has continued to represent the constituency since then. His parliamentary career has spanned multiple terms and a range of ministerial responsibilities at the Union level.
Between 2014 and 2019, Rijiju served as the Minister of State for Home Affairs. From 2019 to 2021, he held the position of Minister of State for Minority Affairs while concurrently serving as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports. He was subsequently appointed Union Minister of Law and Justice, holding that portfolio from 2021 to 2023. From 2023 until June 2024, he served as the Cabinet Minister of Earth Sciences and Food Processing Industries.
In his current roles as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, Rijiju is responsible for coordinating government business in Parliament and overseeing policies and programmes related to minority communities in India.
