His most prominent achievement was being chosen in the Indian squad for the 1970–71 series in the West Indies, a tour that became a landmark in Indian cricket history with India recording its first-ever series win in the Caribbean. Jayantilal was part of the touring party but did not feature in the playing eleven for any Test of the series, with the Indian top order being anchored by Sunil Gavaskar, Ashok Mankad and Dilip Sardesai.
