The school is located in Dehradun, which lies in the Doon Valley between the Song River, a tributary of the Ganges, on the east, and the Asan River, a tributary of the Yamuna, on the west. Dehradun serves as the administrative headquarters of the eponymous district and houses the headquarters of the Divisional Commissioner of the Garhwal division. It is also the headquarters of the Surveyor-General of India.
