Overview
Jayan Kaushal Silva, commonly known as Kaushal Silva, is a Sri Lankan professional cricketer born on 27 May 1986. He is a right-handed batsman who has also kept wickets, and has represented Sri Lanka in Test cricket.
Silva received his education at Sri Sumangala College, Panadura, and at S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, both well-known schools with established cricketing traditions in Sri Lanka. He went on to play domestic cricket for the Sinhalese Sports Club, one of the leading clubs in the Sri Lankan first-class competition.
He made his first-class debut in the 2001/02 season and progressed through the domestic ranks before being selected for the national side. As an opening batsman in the longer format, he became part of the Sri Lankan Test setup.
