Background
The company traces its origins to Gahagan Paints and Varnish Co. Ltd., established in Mumbai in 1920. It was later acquired by the Tata group and renamed Goodlass Nerolac Paints. In 1986, the firm entered into a technical collaboration with Kansai Paint Company of Japan, which subsequently became its principal shareholder.
