Overview
Kanpur Lucknow Roadways Service refers to the road-based passenger transport operations connecting the cities of Kanpur and Lucknow, two of the largest urban centres in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The corridor between the two cities is one of the busiest intra-state routes in northern India and is served primarily by buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), along with private operators.

Background
Kanpur and Lucknow lie roughly 80 to 90 kilometres apart along the Ganga plain. Kanpur is a major industrial and commercial hub, while Lucknow serves as the administrative capital of Uttar Pradesh. The intense daily movement of office workers, students, traders, and government employees between the two cities has historically made the corridor a priority for organised public road transport.
Operations
Bus services on the route operate from terminals such as the Jhakarkati Bus Station and Vikas Nagar depot in Kanpur and the Alambagh Bus Terminal and Charbagh Bus Station in Lucknow. UPSRTC runs ordinary, semi-deluxe, and air-conditioned services on the corridor, with frequent departures throughout the day. The service is complemented by suburban rail links of the Indian Railways and, more recently, by the Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway, which has reduced road travel times significantly.
Significance
The Kanpur–Lucknow road service is considered a key link in the surface transport network of central Uttar Pradesh. It supports daily commuting, inter-city trade, and onward connectivity to other regional centres such as Unnao, which lies roughly midway between the two cities along the corridor.
