Overview
Kannada University, also known as Hampi Kannada University, Hampi University, or Kannada University, Hampi, is a public research university located at Hampi in Karnataka. It was established in 1991 by the Government of Karnataka under the Kannada University Act, 1991.
The university was founded with the aim of developing the Kannada language and promoting the literature, traditions, culture, and folklore of Karnataka. Its scholarly focus is oriented towards research and study related to the linguistic, literary, and cultural heritage of the state.
Each year, the university confers the "Nadoja" awards, which are regarded as equivalent to an Honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt) degree. Instituted by the university, the Nadoja is presented to eminent personalities in recognition of their contributions in various fields.
