Background
Kajal Aggarwal was born in Mumbai to Vinay Aggarwal, a businessman, and Suman Aggarwal, an entrepreneur in the food industry. She has a younger sister, Nisha Aggarwal, who has also acted in South Indian films. Kajal completed her schooling at St. Anne's High School in Fort, Mumbai, and pursued a degree in Mass Media from Jai Hind College, Mumbai. She entered the film industry while still a student.

Early work (2004–2007)
Kajal made her film debut with a minor role in the Hindi romance Kyun! Ho Gaya Na... (2004), directed by Samir Karnik. After modelling assignments and additional smaller roles, she shifted focus to Telugu cinema with Lakshmi Kalyanam (2007), opposite Kalyan Ram.
