Overview
Jual Oram (born 22 March 1961) is an Indian politician serving as the 7th Minister of Tribal Affairs since 2024. He is a Member of Parliament representing the Sundargarh constituency of Odisha in the Lok Sabha, and is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Oram has had a long parliamentary career, having served as a member of the 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th and 17th Lok Sabha. He was earlier inducted into the Union Council of Ministers under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and is a former Cabinet Minister in the Government of India holding the Tribal Affairs portfolio.
Within his party, Oram serves as Vice-President of the Bharatiya Janata Party and is regarded as one of the party's senior leaders from Odisha. He was among the two founding Legislative Assembly members of the BJP from the state of Odisha. He has also served as the president of the BJP's Odisha unit for over four years, and earlier functioned as the Leader of the Opposition from the BJP in the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
In addition to his ministerial duties, Oram serves as the chairman of the parliamentary committee on defence.
