Overview

Jesse Daniel Ryder (born 6 August 1984) is a former New Zealand international cricketer who played all formats of the game. A left-handed batsman, he was deployed primarily in the middle order in Tests and as an opener in One Day Internationals. He also contributed with useful medium-pace bowling.

Ryder represented New Zealand at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2002, before progressing to the senior international setup. In domestic cricket, he initially played for Central Districts and shifted to Wellington in 2004, going on to feature in the side's first-class and List A teams.

He also had stints in English county cricket with Essex County Cricket Club, enjoying a successful season in 2014 and returning to the county in 2015.
