Jeethu Joseph hails from Kerala and entered the film industry as an assistant before transitioning to independent direction. Career
Jeethu made his directorial debut with Detective in 2007, a whodunit starring Suresh Gopi. He followed it with Mummy & Me (2010) and the romantic drama My Boss (2012), starring Dileep and Mamta Mohandas. His thriller Memories (2013), starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, was well received critically.
His major breakthrough came with Drishyam (2013), starring Mohanlal and Meena. The film, centred on a family man who uses his knowledge of cinema to protect his family from a criminal investigation, became one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films at the time of its release. It was remade in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Sinhala and Chinese.
Subsequent films include Life of Josutty (2015), Oozham (2016) and Mohanlal (2018). He directed the Tamil film The Body (2019) starring Rishi Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi—an official remake of a Spanish thriller—marking his Hindi-language directorial venture.
In 2021, Jeethu directed Drishyam 2, a sequel released directly on Amazon Prime Video due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film received strong reviews and was again remade in Hindi (2022) and other languages. He later directed Ram (2022) with Mohanlal and the suspense thriller 12th Man (2022), released on Disney+ Hotstar.
