Academics

JNVU is organised into multiple faculties that cover the arts, sciences, commerce, law, education, social sciences, fine arts, and engineering. The university administers a network of constituent colleges and affiliated institutions in and around Jodhpur. Among its notable constituent units is the M.B.M. The university's main campus is situated in Jodhpur, the second-largest city of Rajasthan, and is spread across several locations within the city. The setting in the Thar region has also encouraged research activity related to arid-zone studies, desert ecology, and regional history.

Significance

As the oldest university based in Jodhpur, JNVU has played a central role in spreading higher education to students from western Rajasthan, including districts such as Barmer, Jaisalmer, Pali, and Nagaur. Its faculties of arts and science have produced scholarship on Rajasthani language, literature, and history, while its professional faculties have contributed to the technical and legal manpower of the state.
